The Ritz-Carlton Residence & Club Resort
Project: The Ritz-Carlton Residence & Club Resort
Location: Vail, Colorado
Size: 538,600 square feet
The Ritz-Carlton Residences and Club is luxury resort nestled above the Gore Creek in Vail, Colorado. This seven story building was deigned to appear as if having been build and modified over time, and was inspired by the grand European mountain residences and family retreats. Large windows take in the stunning views of the surrounding area, and a classic European elegance is captured in the landmark tower, stone base, and soaring glass openings. Articulate rooflines and dormers break down the exterior scale while creating cozy intimate spaces inside.
There are 116 units with 61 unique unit types. The units range in size from approximately 1,600 sq. ft. to 4,200 sq. ft. The intricate design, complex roof geometry, sophisticated waterproofing system and at times a harsh working environment, are just some of the elements that made this project challenging for even the most seasoned architect.
As the architect in charge of construction administration for this historic project, David A. Brewer provided critical design team management, architectural detailing, and quality control services from October 2007 until building completion in September of 2010.
